President's Welcome Letter:
Washington Public Fire Educators is a division of the Washington State Association of Fire Chiefs. This Division represents nearly 100 Departments throughout the State of Washington.
WPFE Goals:
- The promotion of professional interaction with the citizens of Washington State.
- The standardization of comprehensive educational materials and programs throughout the State of Washington.
- Cooperative development and planning with other fire service divisions, the State Fire chiefs and other related organization.
Continued educational opportunities for fire and life safety educators.
The Public Education Division is dedicated to the reduction of life and material losses due to fire and other life safety hazards through educational programs. Members learn together and from each other. Sharing resources and ideas is the mainstay of this organization. Standardization of concepts helps us all serve our communities more effectively. Creativity allows us to personalize and enhance our audience appeal. Evaluation tools are used to ensure our efforts are well founded and appropriately targeted.
Educational opportunities are provided at minimal cost to ensure that public educators are prepared to develop, present, and evaluate their programs. We have joined forces with other state divisions, and participate annually in a Bi-State (Oregon/Washington) meeting, and provide workshops dealing with all facets of fire and life safety issues.
Four business meetings are held annually. Their location and dates are published on the WSAFC’s web page. The business of the Division is determined at these meetings. Your participation is encouraged and welcomed. To become a member, simply call the State Chief’s office at (360) 352-0161, they will be glad to check your Department’s membership status for you.
If you have further questions, please feel free to contact any Board Member. We will be glad to help in anyway possible.
WPFE is always on the look out for innovative, creative, friendly educators who wish to help us combat fire and injury in Washington State. As our motto states, we are “Teaching for a Safer Tomorrow”.
Sincerely Welcome,
Kendra A. Kay, Chair
